Data analysis of the current situation of China's EVA market in 2022: both production capacity and output increase

Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (EVA) is a thermoplastic Resin (polymer material) produced by polymerization reaction with ethylene and vinyl acetate as raw materials. In recent years, the high visibility of the photovoltaic industry has driven the market demand for EVA film, and China has become the country with the largest production and consumption of EVA in the world. In 2022, China's total EVA production capacity will reach 2.15 million tons/year, the total output will be about 1.6755 million tons, and the consumption will be about 2.761 million tons. Its own rate will increase from 49.1% in 2021 to 60.7%, and the supply capacity will increase steadily.

From the perspective of the production of different types of EVA products, the production of foamed, photovoltaic and hot-melt adhesive grade EVA showed a positive growth trend, with the output of photovoltaic grade EVA reaching 95000 tons, an increase of 78%. From the perspective of EVA product structure, PV grade EVA accounted for 56.34%, up 23.16 percentage points from the previous month. The main reason is the decline of silicon material, which drives the demand for photovoltaic grade EVA to improve.

From the perspective of project construction, as of February 2023, there are up to 17 new and proposed EVA projects announced in China, with a total planned capacity of about 4.34 million tons/year.
