Lanxess is persistently optimizing its global production network of Iron Oxide red by increasing production capacity.

By eliminating capacity bottlenecks at the Krefeld Uerdingen plant, the specialty chemicals company has increased the annual supply of bayferrox and colortherm red pigments by more than 5000 metric tons.

In the paint, coating industry and plastic applications, the demand for our high-quality pigments is growing. These pigments have good dispersion properties.

Lanxess uses its unique Laux process to produce bayferrox and colortherm red pigments at its Krefeld Uerdingen plant in Germany.

Due to its own properties, Lanxess's trace iron oxide red pigment is mainly used in paint and coating systems with strict technical requirements, as well as plastic coloring. The fine process is characterized by strong grinding, which significantly reduces the proportion of agglomerates. Therefore, the fine pigment can be dispersed more easily. In addition, they also have high color intensity and color consistency.

Since the alternative copperas process is no longer used on a global scale, the more environmentally friendly Laux process is the only production process for red iron oxide, including calcination at very high temperatures. This step allows the pigments to be particularly stable and to have unique properties after the subsequent grinding process that distinguish them from all other red iron oxide pigments available on the market.

These pigments are also leading in terms of temperature stability. They're even up to 800 ° Red pigments produced by other manufacturing processes are generally resistant to up to 400 ℃ ° C. Due to the high temperature applied during calcination in the Laux process, all water inclusions that promote color shift are displaced from the oxide lattice. Therefore, even at extremely high application temperature, Lanxess's Micro red pigment will not appear color shift in use.
