From 2017 to 2021, China's PVC paste resin production capacity changed significantly, with an average growth rate of 5.34% in recent five years. In 2017, the newly increased production capacity was released intensively, and the newly increased production capacity of 190000 tons exacerbated the contradiction between market supply and demand, and corporate losses brought the PVC paste resin industry into a downturn cycle. From 2018 to 2019, some backward production capacity will be eliminated. In 2020, due to the impact of international public health events, the demand for PVC paste resin gloves will increase significantly, the price of PVC paste resin has reached the highest level over the years, some new production capacity will be put on the market one after another, and some long-term shutdown enterprises also resume operation, with a production capacity of 1425000 tons. In 2021, some enterprises, such as China salt, Inner Mongolia Chemical Industry and Shandong Langhui, put their new production capacity into operation as scheduled. Due to the influence of market or raw material supply and other factors, some production capacity has delayed the production plan. Up to now, the total production capacity of PVC paste resin in China has reached 1.535 million tons in 2021, an increase of 110000 tons over 2020, an increase of 7.72%.
From the perspective of monthly output change, the monthly output of PVC paste resin in China changed significantly in 2021. In October, the output of PVC paste in China was 887400 tons, an increase of 5.25% over the same period in 2020, and the average monthly output was 88700 tons, an increase of 4400 tons over the same period in 2020. In the first half of the year, the monthly output fluctuated slightly. From May to June, due to the centralized maintenance of some units, the output decreased slightly, but the output decreased significantly in the third quarter. In particular, the output in July was only 61100 tons, which was the low output in the first ten months. The main reason was that the operating load rate of most enterprises decreased in July due to the continuous rise in the price of raw calcium carbide and tight supply, Even some enterprises temporarily shut down their installations, and the average operating load rate in July was only 44.83%; From August to October, affected by the shortage of raw materials, the output is still difficult to increase. From November to December, due to the influence of winter weather conditions, the number of planned maintenance of enterprises is small, but we still need to pay attention to the supply of calcium carbide. It is expected that the market demand for paste resin will improve. It does not rule out that sporadic enterprises will continue to maintain the shutdown state. Some enterprises may wait for the opportunity to appropriately increase the starting load, and the expected output may be higher than that in October.
According to statistics, the planned new capacity in 2022 is expected to be 80000 tons, including 60000 T / a micro suspension PVC paste resin plant planned by Fangsheng in Jiyuan, Henan, and a 20000 t / a paste resin plant planned by Sichuan Jinlu in 2022. If the above units can be put into operation on schedule in 2022, the production capacity of PVC paste resin in China will reach 1.615 million tons in 2022.
