Oxalic Acid 11

Oxalic Acid is also known as oxalic ACID. Oxalic acid is an organic substance and a metabolic product of organisms. It refers to the colorless columnar crystal containing bimolecular crystal water, which is a common component of plants, especially herbs, and mostly exists in the form of potassium salt or calcium salt. Oxalic acid is highly irritating and corrosive. Dust or concentrated solution containing oxalic acid is likely to cause serious damage to skin, mucous membrane and eyes.

Oxalic acid is soluble in ethanol. Soluble in water. Slightly soluble in ether. Insoluble in benzene and chloroform. Oxalic acid begins to sublimate at 100 ℃, rapidly sublimates at 125 ℃, sublimates in large quantities at 157 ℃, and begins to decompose. It can react with alkali and can undergo esterification, acyl halogenation and amidation. Reduction reaction and decarboxylation reaction can also occur when heated. Anhydrous Oxalic Acid is hygroscopic. Oxalic acid can form water-soluble complexes with many metals.

1、 Use of oxalic acid

1. Oxalic acid is mainly used as reducing agent and bleaching agent;

2. Oxalic acid can also be used in the production of cobalt, molybdenum and aluminum catalysts, the cleaning of metals and marble, and the bleaching of textiles.

3. Solvent and catalyst preparation for metal surface cleaning and treatment and refining rare metals.

4. In the organic synthesis industry, it is mainly used to produce hydroquinone, pentaerythritol, cobalt oxalate, nickel oxalate, gallic acid and other chemical products.

5. The plastic industry is used to produce PVC, amino plastics, urea-formaldehyde plastics, paint chips, etc.

6. Dye industry is used to produce salt base magenta, etc.

7. Before painting exterior wall paint, the construction industry should first paint oxalic acid to remove alkali because of the strong alkalinity of the wall.

8. In the printing and dyeing industry, Acetic Acid can be used as a color developing aid and bleaching agent for pigment dyes.

9. The pharmaceutical industry is used to manufacture aureomycin, oxytetracycline, tetracycline, streptomycin, ephedrine, vitamin B12, phenobarbital, borneol and other drugs.

10. It is used to synthesize various oxalate, oxalate, oxalamide and other products, with the largest output of diethyl oxalate, sodium oxalate and calcium oxalate.

11. Oxalic acid can be used to remove rust. And the solubility of the acid oxalate is very high.

12. Antimony oxalate can be used as a mordant, and ammonium ferric oxalate is a reagent for printing blueprints.

13. It is used to verify and determine beryllium, calcium, chromium, gold, manganese, strontium, thorium and other metal ions in analysis.

14. Sodium and other elements are examined by micro-crystal analysis.

15. Precipitate calcium, magnesium, thorium and rare earth elements.

16. Calibrate the standard solution of potassium permanganate and cerium sulfate solution.

2、 Precautions for use of oxalic acid

1. Oxalic acid can remove rust, but it has certain toxicity. When using, after contact with oxalic acid, the skin should be washed with water in time. Oxalic acid with high concentration is easy to corrode hands.

2. Oxalic acid has strong corrosivity to stainless steel.
