According to the customs statistics, the export of bottle grade PET in August 2022 will be 450900 tons, with an average price of 1197.62 dollars/ton. The export volume will increase by 87700 tons over the previous month and 107.18% over the same period last year.
In August, the total export volume of domestic bottle grade PET reached 450000 tons, an increase of 24% over the previous month, more than double the same period last year. In May this year, the total export volume of bottle grade PET also exceeded 450000 tons, temporarily ranking the first in the year. This year, the total export volume of bottle grade PET has surged. From January to August, the total export volume has reached 2.9671 million tons, an increase of 52.42% over the same period of last year. Last year, the total export volume was 3.1797 million tons, and this year's total export volume is only 212600 tons less than last year's total export volume. Therefore, the total export volume in the first three quarters will exceed the total export volume of the previous year. The total export volume from January to August accounted for 40.59% of the total output of bottle grade PET this year. More than 40% of the output was concentrated in foreign trade exports, an increase of nearly 10% compared with previous years.
The third quarter is the peak season for global beverage consumption. Since June this year, extreme high temperature has spread to the world. Several countries in the Northern Hemisphere have issued high temperature warnings. The high temperature in Britain, France, Spain, Italy and Japan has also exceeded previous records. The unprecedented heat hit North America, Europe and India. From June to August this year, there was a large-scale continuous high temperature weather process in the central east and southwest of China, and the high temperature spread in many regions around the world. Stimulated by the high temperature, the global beverage market consumption still maintained a high level of growth, and the demand for bottle grade PET improved significantly.
With the continuous high temperature heat wave, the world is facing the problem of "power shortage" and "energy shortage". Due to the conflict with Russia, the European region once interrupted the import of energy, which directly led to the shortage of European energy supply. Therefore, some overseas enterprises started polyester PET relatively low, the demand for imported resources increased significantly, and the high foreign trade price, so the scale of China's bottle PET export market increased significantly.
In terms of the export situation of bottle grade PET in the fourth quarter, as the high temperature fades, the global beverage consumption will gradually enter the off-season, the total demand for bottle grade PET will gradually decrease, and the total export of bottle grade PET in China will decrease. However, this winter, due to the indefinite closure of "Beixi - 1" in Russia, Europe is facing potential energy shortages, and natural gas prices have soared. Therefore, the production of PET in Europe is still under great pressure, and the problem of supply shortage still exists. Therefore, the overall reduction of China's total exports to the European market will be less. Therefore, the export market of bottle grade PET will remain at a high level in the fourth quarter.
