Hydroxypropyl Cellulose For Cement Based Tile Mortars
Description of HPMC Powder:
It is an important variety of non ionic cellulose mixed ethers. It is odorless, odorless, and non-toxic. The finished product is in the form of white powder or loose fiber, and the particle size passes an 80 mesh sieve. It does not react with heavy metals. Different ratios of methoxy content to hydroxypropyl content and viscosity in the finished product make it a variety with different properties. HPMC is actually a kind of methylcellulose modified by epoxy methane (methyloxypropylene ring). Therefore, it has the characteristics of being soluble in cold water and insoluble in hot water similar to methylcellulose. Its solubility in organic solvents is better than that in water. It can be soluble in anhydrous methanol and ethanol, as well as in chlorinated hydrocarbons such as Dichloromethane, trichloroethane, acetone, isopropanol, diacetonol, and other organic solvents.

Application of Construction Grade HPMC:
1. Construction industry: As a water retaining agent and retarder for cement mortar, it makes the mortar pumpable. When plastering mortar, gypsum, putty powder, or other building materials as an adhesive, it improves the coating performance and extends the operational time. It can be used for pasting ceramic tiles, marble, plastic decorations, pasting reinforcing agents, and also reducing the amount of cement used. The water retention property of HPMC prevents the slurry from cracking due to drying too quickly after application, enhancing the strength after hardening.
2. Ceramic manufacturing industry: widely used as an adhesive in the manufacture of ceramic products.
3. Coating industry: As a thickener, dispersant, and stabilizer in the coating industry, it has good phase solubility in water or organic solvents. As a paint remover.
4. Ink printing: As a thickener, dispersant, and stabilizer in the ink industry, it has good phase solubility in water or organic solvents.
5. Plastics: Used as molding release agent, softener, lubricant, etc.
6. PVC: As a dispersant in the production of PVC, it is the main auxiliary agent for the preparation of PVC by suspension polymerization.
